About Me

Hello! My name is Amanda Kaufman. I am a junior at Boston University’s College of Communication, where I am majoring in Journalism and minoring in Political Science. These days, it feels as if every sphere of my life pretty much exists at the intersection of politics and news.

My dream job is to be a news reporter for a city or regional publication, because I think it’s immensely important for residents of a city to know what’s going on at the local and state level. I am particularly interested in reporting on K-12 public education systems.

As a staff writer for The Daily Free Press, Boston University’s student-run newspaper, I have reported on a number of issues and events including the Boston Women’s March for America, underage drinking on campus, the official Trump/Pence Massachusetts campaign viewing party, and government funding to aid homelessness.

I will mainly use this blog for a NewsTrack assignment in my Online Journalism class, in which I will be describing and analyzing news reports produced by Politico.com. I hope you enjoy!

My brother, Trevor, and I at a wedding in September 2016.
